We tend to get caught up in our day to day motions. Get up, get the coffee going. Watch the news. Take a shower. Sit in traffic. Go to work and look forward to lunch. Eat lunch. Go back to work and look forward to quitting time. Sit in traffic. Watch some tv. Repeat the next day.
I had a reminder this week of what it's like to be there for someone. One of my co-workers (I hope she doesn't mind that I put this) got a phone call Thursday that her father passed away. He was 43 (she's 21). He wasn't sick. He was fine. It was very unexpected. She was completely shocked. She went into a panic attack and almost collapsed in my arms. Being that men in our office don't know how to handle females, two of them just stared at her. I made her sit down and called for back up. She lives 45 minutes away and had to get home. I was not going to let her drive. She was hysterical and her being upset, was making me upset. Several co-workers said I handled it very well. I didn't know where she lived. Just her city. Long story short, we got her home safely and I'm going to the memorial service tomorrow with another co-workers.
I've heard people say "You find out who your true friends are at weddings, birthdays and funerals". This girl is like a little sister to me and I can only imagine how she feels. She is the rock in her family and everyone turns to her. I give her much credit because at 21, I just wanted to party.
It made me realize there are certain people in my family that I don't call and say hello. Nothing more, nothing less. I know some people that call me and say "How are you" which really means "I don't care because I'm about to talk about myself". I cannot stand people like this & usually avoid their phone calls. Yada yada yada. So to everyone that reads this, try to call a relative you haven't spoken to in a while. Just say hi and tell them you were on their mind. You just never know.

I have no idea what you are talking about, Squooze! I thought everyone who asked, "How are you?" really meant it...unfortunately, we live in the real world and most people feel pressured to ask that and don't really care. So, how are you? :) Love you bunches!
